Ceramic Studio

Bio | b Lin

Born and raised in California, B moved to NYC for her MA in Modern Art Curatorial and Critical Studies from Columbia University.

After finishing her thesis, Black Earth: Vessels Across the Atlantic, she took time to take community classes until finding a university-supported studio to continue her studies in ceramics.

Material culture, ‘women’s work’, and Black Feminism are at the heart of her artistic theory in understanding and qualifying the space her body and the clay body inhabit as disruptive to the white space of visual art culture and vocal about the access and platform being used.

Crochet, hand-building, weaving, and creating something out of broken parts are where the woman’s hand can make do, make good, and create balance. The inescapable humanness to seek perfection is lost, but feminine work's grace adds softness and balance.

The first exhibition of these works will be in the upcoming exhibition "Power Play” 2025 in Newark, NJ.
